Storia di "Etnaly Shop: un Vulcano di Sapori" - Etnaly-shop

History of "Etnaly Shop: A Volcano of Flavors"

When people think of Etna, they are usually accustomed to doing so because of its uniqueness in terms of landscape: the highest active volcano in Europe, the mountain (or 'A Muntagna as the people of Catania call it) that dominates the plain of Catania, from which it is possible to ski in winter while looking at the sea. A landscape that is constantly changing, with the alternation of pine forests and rivers of lava that have now cooled over time, originated by the eruptions that have followed one another over the years, sometimes purely spectacular, with fountains of fire rising high into the sky, while the magma settles harmlessly inside the enormous natural reservoir of the Valle del Bove, and at other times with destructive power that has grazed, crossed, or overwhelmed houses, roads, hotels, and ski lifts, stopping at the gates of Zafferana, Bronte, and Nicolosi.

Etna and its paths that cross it at different altitudes, its refuges where you can spend the night, the vertical walls to tackle to reach the summit of the volcano, the caves that leave you breathless, such as the Grotta del Gelo or the Grotta dei Lamponi.

When we talk about Etna, we refer to the flourishing economy that has grown around agri-food specialties, starting from the very strong impetus given by the wine district, which brings together all the wineries operating in the area in the production of both indigenous grape varieties (such as Nerello Mascalese, the basis of Etna Rosso) and international ones. The agri-food supply chain now sees dozens and dozens of companies operational, which have decided to focus on the extraordinary variety of local produce by investing in the quality of the raw materials, in cultivation and processing techniques that maintain the approach of tradition, associating them with increasingly refined production systems thanks to the aid of modern machinery, in respect of natural cycles and the seasonality of the product.

From the north or south side of Etna, passing through Bronte, Randazzo, Maletto, Linguaglossa, in whatever town you stop, you can find dozens of farms and artisan businesses that produce wine, pistachios, jams, and other typical products of the Etna tradition imprinted in the memory.

During the pandemic, many small artisan producers found themselves in difficulty, so, out of passion for our land and knowledge of the territory and its main protagonists, we decided to launch this e-commerce site to help these producers sell a selection of their agri-food excellences all over the world... that is how etnaly-shop.com was born.
