The Volcanic Power of 100% Nerello Mascalese
On the highest slopes of the volcano, where sharp temperature swings forge the character of the grapes, this substantial red wine by Turi Eccellenze dell'Etna comes to life. The late October harvest, carried out between 600 and 800 meters above sea level, allows for the extraction of the deepest, most mineral essence of the volcanic soil. The result is an elegant, complex glass, deeply rooted in its extreme terroir.
- 🌱 Noble Indigenous Varietal: Crafted exclusively with Nerello Mascalese, the undisputed king of Etna grape varieties, vinified as a single varietal to enhance its true genetic identity without compromise.
- 🧑🍳 Structured Double Aging: The complexity of this wine is the result of time. After 11 days of skin maceration, it rests for 1 year in steel silos to stabilize, followed by another year in oak barriques, which softens the tannins and gives it a superb structure.
- 🌋 Mineral Signature: The altitude and roots sunk deep into the volcanic stone translate into a vertical sapidity that cleanses the palate with every sip.
- 🍷 Evolved Bouquet: The ruby red color precedes a layered nose: ripe red fruits blend harmoniously with warm spices, licorice, tobacco, and a delicate touch of vanilla derived from aging in wood.
- ⚖️ Balance on the Palate: Despite the elegant tannic structure and savory push, the taste is extremely approachable and round, leaving a long and pleasant finish.

🍷 The Ambassador of Taste recommends:
This Nerello Mascalese, by virtue of its time in barriques and its significant structure, needs to breathe. I strongly suggest uncorking and decanting it at least an hour before serving to allow the complex notes of tobacco and licorice to fully open up. It is a wine that demands the bold flavors of our land: try it with a roasted leg of lamb or a board of our well-aged Pecorino Siciliano DOP. The Turano's elegant tannic structure will cleanse the palate to perfection, creating absolute harmony.

QUICK FAQ
Why is the double aging (steel + barrique) important?
Steel preserves the freshness and primary aromas of the fruit, while the subsequent 12-month period in barriques serves to soften the natural, vigorous tannins of the Nerello Mascalese, enriching the bouquet with elegant tertiary notes such as vanilla and sweet spices.
Which vintage should I choose between 2018, 2019, and 2020?
The more mature vintages (2018-2019) offer much more pronounced tertiary scents (leather, tobacco) and extreme roundness, making them perfect for substantial roasts or for contemplation. The 2020 vintage, on the other hand, retains a more vibrant and crisp red fruit note.
