The energy of Nerello Mascalese in a sip of pure lava
The 2022 Rossobrillo by Emilio Sciacca is the most joyful and direct expression of the North and South slopes of Mount Etna. Born from young vines and plants over 40 years old grown as bush vines (alberello), this wine tells the story of a producer who accompanies the grapes from the vineyard to the bottle without forcing, favoring the vitality of the fruit over the complexity of woody extraction.
- 🌋 Dual Terroir: Grapes sourced from Contrada Martinella (Linguaglossa) and Contrada Purgatorio (Biancavilla), between 600 and 700 meters above sea level. The sandy-mineral soil imparts an electric savoriness, typical of volcanic soil.
- 🍇 Natural Vinification: 11-day fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. The choice not to filter the wine but to proceed through natural decanting preserves the aromatic integrity and the chromatic matter of the ruby red.
- 🍷 Structure and Character: The nose reveals notes of crisp red fruits interwoven with spicy tones. On the palate, it is enveloping, with a vibrant tannin that cleanses the palate and invites a second sip.
- 🧑🍳 Respect for the Raw Material: Aged for 12 months in steel and at least 4 months in the bottle, Rossobrillo avoids the toasted notes of wood to leave room for the varietal purity of the Nerello Mascalese.

🍷 The Taste Ambassador recommends:
I suggest you don't be afraid to serve Rossobrillo slightly cooler, around 15°C, especially if you pair it with a platter of local cured meats or a pasta dish with black pork ragù. Since it is an unfiltered wine, you might find slight sediment at the bottom: it is a sign of its vitality, so pour it with care to enjoy all its volcanic energy.
